Peter Orosz from Jalopnik.com wrote a posting about the Lamborghini Coloring Book. Peter says “The essence of supercar design lies in the choice of tools required to reproduce them: crayons instead of CAD software. Dutch artist Frank de Kleine proves the point with his coloring book of Lamborghinis.” And “In a clever move, he tested his work on his kids Marieke and Jeroen. Marieke seems to have gotten the essence of Lamborghinis: just use a bunch of really weird colors!”

A little while ago, Dave contacted me, asking if he could use some of my coloring pages to create a placemat for a restaurant. I told him that I only have one condition: please send me a couple when they’re ready. Dave agreed and started working, I went on a holiday (some guys have all the luck :-).

When I came back I found an email from Dave in my inbox. He told me the restaurant owner decided not to make the placemats, because he thought the printing cost was too high. Since Dave allready finished the design I suggested to publish it on this web site. As you can see, he had no problem with the idea.

I removed the restaurant name for legal matters and, allthough the quality is a bit lower, I made a .GIF file from Dave’s original .PDF to keep the traffic on my server as low as possible.

@ Dave: I love what you did with my original coloring pages (see links to originals below). Thanks for working with me, I hope you are happy with the result!

Happy birthday!

I just realized that today, August 2, is this web site’s birthday: LetMeColor.com is now officially exactly one year old (or should I say young?). I am very happy that we have reached this first milestone. I hope we will reach many more…

Increasing popularity
Looking back, I can say we’ve done very well. Statistics show that we are only a few steps away from 300.000 page views. And it was only April 14th that we crossed the 100.000 line, so this site is gathering speed :-). A year ago, when I started this blog, I didn’t quite expect that so many people out there would be interested in my realistic coloring pages. So, to everybody out there: thank you very much!

Upgrading web site
Last week I spend time upgrading my WordPress software (for all the geeks out there: I’m running 2.6 now). And very important: I tried to improve the usability of this site. Some of you might have noticed that the category cloud on the right was growing too big to be useful. So I brought that back to a small amount of categories. Hopefully, this will help you find coloring pages much faster. I also changed the sitemap (see the “ColoringPages” button in the header), so the categories in the cloud match the headings in the sitemap.

The future
So, what will the future bring? Of course, I will continue publishing 2 new coloring pages a week (or at least I will try :-). But first, this month (August) I will be going on a 2 week family vacation, so there could be a little pause later this month. But after that, I will post 2 free coloring pages a week again.

Supercar coloring book
I am also working on a new coloring book, filled with brand new coloring pages of fantastic super cars. I can’t say too much about it right now, only that it is my first coloring book that will be sold, after my first free coloring book (and yes, there will be more free books too). I hope to release the sports car book in September, so come back if you like fast car coloring pages. It will be available by download.

Well, that’s it for now folks. I hope I didn’t bore you to much with only words. Next posting will have a free and printable coloring page again. Hope to see you again.

Produced exclusively for the United States, the Alex Zanardi Edition NSX was introduced in 1999 to commemorate Alex Zanardi’s two back-to-back CART Champ Car championship wins for Honda / Acura in 1997 and 1998. Only fifty-one examples were built. Zanardi Number 0 was a press car that also appeared in auto shows across the country. In a handling test in Road and Track’s June 1999 issue, this Zanardi NSX placed second against the Dodge Viper GTS-R, Lotus Esprit, Porsche 911 Carrera 4, Ferrari F355 Spyder, and Chevrolet Corvette C5 Coupe.
